Vikings Receiver Rondale Moore Dies at Age 25

Rondale Moore, a former NFL receiver, found dead in Indiana home.

Police have confirmed that Rondale Moore, 25, died of a suspected self-inflicted gunshot wound at his residence in New Albany, Indiana. The incident occurred on Saturday and is currently under investigation by local authorities. Floyd County Coroner Matthew Tomlin has confirmed the death and stated that an autopsy will be conducted on Sunday.

Moore played for Purdue University before being drafted by the Arizona Cardinals in 2021. He suffered season-ending injuries during training camp in both 2023 and 2024, which limited his playing time with the team. In 2025, he signed with the Minnesota Vikings but was forced to spend another full season on injured reserve due to a knee injury.

The Falcons traded Moore to the Atlanta Falcons in 2024, where he dislocated his right knee during training camp and did not play for them. The Vikings expressed their condolences to Moore’s family, stating that they had spoken with them to offer support. “We are heartbroken by the news of Rondale’s death,” said coach Kevin O’Connell. “He was a humble, soft-spoken, and respectful young man who was proud of his Indiana roots.”

The Cardinals also released a statement expressing their devastation over Moore’s death. “Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with his family, friends, teammates, and everyone who loved him and had the privilege of knowing such a special person,” they said.

Moore grew up in New Albany, just across the Indiana border from Louisville, Kentucky. He was a first-team All-American as a freshman at Purdue in 2018 and served as the Cardinals’ primary returner for kickoffs and punts before injuries limited his playing time.
