Golden State Warriors Fall to Phoenix Suns in Play-In Match
The Golden State Warriors suffered a 111-96 loss to the Phoenix Suns in their final play-in elimination match on Friday, securing the Western Conference’s eighth postseason seed. The Suns will face the top-seeded Oklahoma City Thunder in Sunday’s first-round series.
Jalen Green led the Suns with 36 points, while Brandin Podziemski contributed 23 points and 10 rebounds for Golden State. The Warriors’ 21 turnovers resulted in 30 points for the Suns.
The game saw a heated discussion between Draymond Green and Devin Booker, which led to both players being issued technical fouls and Green’s ejection. Despite this, Phoenix maintained their lead throughout the match.
In the first quarter, Golden State scored just 15 points, while the Suns shot 52.4 percent from the field. The Warriors struggled in the second quarter, allowing Phoenix to pull within two points with 19.6 seconds remaining in the half.
Phoenix regained control in the third quarter, thanks in part to an 11-1 run featuring two 3-pointers from Jalen Green. Booker finished with 20 points, eight assists, and six rebounds for the Suns.
The game also saw Paolo Banchero score 25 points for the Orlando Magic, who advanced to the Eastern Conference playoffs by routing the Charlotte Hornets 121-90 in their earlier play-in match. The Magic will face the top-seeded Pistons in a best-of-seven first-round series beginning Sunday night in Detroit.
On the other hand, the Hornets fell to the Magic despite LaMelo Ball’s 23 points and a dramatic overtime win over the Miami Heat in their previous game.
