World Condemns Iran After Attacks on United Arab Emirates

Multiple countries issue statements condemning Iranian missile and drone strikes in the Gulf region.
Iran has been targeted by missiles and drones fired from the UAE, with officials stating that 15 missiles and four drones were intercepted. The attacks occurred on Monday, marking the first time the UAE has been targeted since Iran and the US agreed to a ceasefire on April 8.
According to authorities in the UAE, one drone attack caused a “large” fire at the Fujairah Petroleum Industries Zone, injuring three Indian nationals. An empty crude oil tanker belonging to an Emirati company was also attacked by Iran as it attempted to pass through the Strait of Hormuz.
The Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement condemning the Iranian targeting of civilian and economic facilities in the UAE, as well as a vessel belonging to an Emirati company. Qatar also condemned the attacks, stating that they constituted a “blatant violation of the UAE’s sovereignty” and a “serious threat to regional security”.
Kuwait’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs called for an immediate end to all aggression against Iran, stating that its actions threatened maritime navigation in the Strait of Hormuz and posed a risk to global supply lines. Bahrain’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs denounced the Iranian attacks as “terrorist” and expressed support for any retaliatory measures taken by the UAE.
Jordanian Minister of Foreign Affairs Ayman Safadi condemned the renewed Iranian attacks on the UAE, stating that they constituted a “dangerous escalation” and a threat to regional security. German Chancellor Friedrich Merz also issued a statement condemning Iran’s actions, calling for Tehran to return to talks and end its blockade of the Strait of Hormuz.
Canada has stated that it strongly condemns Iran’s unprovoked missile and drone strikes on the UAE, while the UK has called for Iran to return to talks.
