World Cup 2026 National Team Base Camps to Be Established Soon

FIFA World Cup Teams Finalize Pre-Tournament Plans Ahead of June 11 Opener

As the FIFA World Cup approaches its kickoff day in Mexico, participating teams are making final preparations for their squads and training sessions. With most expanded rosters announced, attention is shifting towards traveling to the United States, Mexico, and Canada for friendly matches and training.

The host nations’ hospitality sectors are busy completing preparations for the tournament’s arrival. Each team has selected a base camp from FIFA-approved locations, which will serve as their primary location for pre-tournament training and acclimatization during the group stage.

Base camps offer a range of facilities, including accommodation, practice football fields, gyms, post-training recovery centers, and performance evaluation spaces. The three host nations hold an advantage over the 45 participating teams, who face international travel and local climate adjustments.

The locations of the base camps are varied, with options ranging from local sports complexes to luxury hotels. These facilities will be used until the group stage, which runs from June 11 to 27. Teams advancing to the knockout phase will have the option to extend their stay or relocate closer to their next match venue.

Some notable team locations include Rock Chalk Park in Kansas City for Argentina and Jordan, Sporting KC’s Performance Center for Algeria, and the University of California at Santa Barbara’s football facility for Austria. The Socceroos will train at the Oakland Roots Sports Club in Vancouver, while the Austrian team will arrive on the West Coast before traveling to nearby Santa Clara for their first game.

Teams will have varying arrangements for accommodation, training facilities, and fixtures, with some teams enjoying custom facilities similar to those provided during the 2022 World Cup. The tournament’s hospitality sector is working to ensure a smooth experience for all participating teams.
