Yemens Houthi rebels launch new front amid ongoing Iran conflict

US and Israeli Forces Intensify Strikes on Iran

A Yemeni group, affiliated with Iran, has launched attacks on Israel for the first time, amid escalating tensions in the region. The Houthis, who control much of northern Yemen, carried out two missile and drone strikes on Israel within 24 hours, according to reports.

The Israeli military stated that the attacks were intercepted, but the Houthis pledged to continue their support for “resistance fronts” in Palestine, Lebanon, Iraq, and Iran. The group’s involvement in the conflict comes as US Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced plans to conclude military operations against Iran within weeks.

US President Donald Trump has been given flexibility to adjust his strategy due to the ongoing deployment of US Marines in the region. The situation remains tense, with no immediate diplomatic breakthrough in sight between the US and Iran.

The conflict has already resulted in significant loss of life, with at least 1,937 people killed in Iran since its start. The Iranian Ministry of Health reported that over 93,000 civilian properties have been damaged by US-Israeli strikes. In Lebanon, the death toll from Israeli attacks stands at 1,189, with nine paramedics killed.

The situation is further complicated by the disruption of Red Sea traffic through the Strait of Hormuz, a vital chokepoint for global oil supplies. The Houthis’ involvement in the conflict has raised concerns about their ability to disrupt trade routes and target Israel’s economy.
