AFC Playoff Picture Takes Shape as Divisional Titles Decided
The AFC playoff landscape is starting to take shape with just two weeks left in the regular season. With several divisional titles already decided, teams that were once considered long shots of making the postseason are now firmly in contention. The top seeds in each conference are all but assured of a spot in Super Bowl 60, with the Kansas City Chiefs and Buffalo Bills locking up the number one seed in their respective conferences. The New England Patriots are also solidified as the third seed in the AFC after clinching the division title, while the Baltimore Ravens round out the top three. In the AFC South, the Tennessee Titans have secured a wild card spot with two wins over the past week, giving them the fourth and final playoff berth from that division. The division’s other teams struggled to get on the board, but both Houston Texans and Indianapolis Colts will still be hoping for one last upset in Week 18 to keep their playoff hopes alive. The AFC East was a bit more competitive, with the Miami Dolphins snatching up the fifth seed after edging out the New York Jets by a single game. The Los Angeles Chargers secured the sixth seed despite struggling to get any momentum going in recent weeks. Meanwhile, in the NFC, the top seeds are all but set as well. The San Francisco 49ers and Philadelphia Eagles have locked up the number one and two seeds respectively, with the Dallas Cowboys taking third place. The Washington Commanders round out the top four seed after edging out the Minnesota Vikings for that spot. The Green Bay Packers secured a wild card spot in Week 17, while the Seattle Seahawks are just one game behind them and can still make a push if they win their final two games. In the NFC West, the Los Angeles Rams were unable to close out the division title against the Arizona Cardinals but still secured the fifth seed. The Atlanta Falcons will have to hope for an upset in Week 18 to keep their playoff dreams alive. Super Bowl 60 is shaping up to be one of the most competitive postseason in recent memory, and teams that are not currently ranked highly may find themselves making a late push down the stretch.
