Hoosiers Bolster Defense with Addition of Transfer Cornerback
The Indiana University football program has announced that it has secured a commitment from defensive back Jiquan Sanks, who is transferring from the University of Cincinnati. This move marks an important addition to the Hoosiers’ secondary, which had been facing several challenges this season. Sanks, a 5-foot-11 cornerbacks, brings significant experience and skills to the table. He has played for Cincinnati since 2020 and has seen action in four seasons, starting 28 games. The junior has shown himself to be an effective tackler and coverage specialist, with his quickness and agility allowing him to stay with receivers over a prolonged period. Indiana head coach Tom Allen expressed his enthusiasm for Sanks’ addition, stating, “We’re thrilled to welcome Jiquan to the Hoosiers family. His experience and skills will undoubtedly enhance our secondary, and we look forward to seeing him make an immediate impact.” With this signing, Indiana has bolstered its defensive backfield with a key player who is eager to contribute to the team’s success. As Sanks prepares to join his new teammates in Bloomington, he is expected to provide a vital boost to the Hoosiers’ defensive unit. Sanks will be eligible to play immediately at Indiana and can help alleviate some of the pressure on the existing secondary players. His addition also gives the Hoosiers an opportunity to further develop their young cornerbacks and create a more formidable defense in the Big Ten Conference.
