In the past century, several non-league teams have pulled off stunning upsets against top-flight sides in the FA Cup.
Manchester City fell to Clapton, a fifth-tier club from London, 1-0 in the third round of the competition in 2019. AFC Wimbledon defeated Fulham, a Premier League team, 2-1 on aggregate in the 1988 third round. Tranmere Rovers beat Liverpool, a top-flight side at the time, 1-0 in the same year. In 1993, Wycombe Wanderers, then a Conference National club, pulled off an 11th-minute win over Arsenal, another top-flight team. The most recent upset was against Brighton & Hove Albion by Boreham Wood, who defeated the Seagulls 2-0 in the third round in 2018.
