Top Guns Win the Title
The University of Wisconsin-River Falls’ football team celebrated their NCAA Division III championship on Sunday with a thrilling 31-21 victory over the Maryville College Scots. The Badgers’ high-powered “Top Gun” offense, which averages an astonishing 55 points per game, proved to be too much for Maryville’s defense to handle. Leading the charge was senior quarterback Jake Kramer, who threw for 312 yards and three touchdowns, including a 75-yard bomb to wide receiver Tyler Johnson in the fourth quarter that sealed the win. The Badgers’ rushing attack also put on a show, with running backs Alex Kuehl and Tyler Buerkle combining for 201 yards and two scores. The victory marked the Badgers’ third national title in program history and capped off an incredible season that saw them outscore their opponents by an average margin of over 30 points per game. The team’s high-powered offense, which is led by coach Matt Lippert, was a key factor in their success, with Kramer and Johnson forming one of the most explosive receiving combinations in Division III football. The Badgers’ championship win was met with excitement from fans who filled the stadium to capacity to cheer on their team. The victory parade will take place next week, where players and coaches will be honored for their achievement.
