Upset in Orlando: Texans' Late Surge Sends Wolverines Packing
Michigan Football lost to Texas, 41-27, in the Citrus Bowl to end the 2025 season. The Wolverines struggled from the onset of the game, yielding a touchdown on their opening drive and taking an early 7-point deficit into the second quarter. Michigan’s offense sputtered throughout the first half, managing just over 100 yards total offense while allowing Texas’ high-powered attack to amass nearly 300. Despite a spirited effort from quarterback J.J. Musgrave, who threw for over 250 yards and two touchdowns, the Wolverines found themselves trailing by as many as 17 points in the third quarter. The Longhorns took advantage of Michigan’s struggles on both sides of the ball, using their speed and aggression to exploit the Wolverines’ defensive weaknesses. However, it was Texas’ fourth-quarter explosion that proved decisive, as quarterback Tyler Van Dyke orchestrated a pair of long touchdown drives to put the game out of reach. The Longhorns’ late surge was capped off by a 45-yard touchdown run from running back Jordan Toliver, who sealed the win for Texas. The loss marks the end of a disappointing season for Michigan Football, which finished with an 8-5 record. While the team showed flashes of brilliance at times, their inability to close out games and contain opposing offenses ultimately proved costly.
