AI Music Overwhelming Deezer's Uploads
Deezer is struggling to keep up with a flood of AI-generated song submissions, which now account for nearly 75,000 daily uploads on its music streaming platform – a staggering 44% of all content added by users. The majority of these uploads are deemed “fraudulent,” but Deezer claims that AI-created music still makes up only around 1-3% of total streams, and has taken steps to remove the artificial tracks from its recommendation algorithm. The move has left some questioning whether Deezer is truly setting an “industry standard” for music authenticity, as it appears to be one of the first major streaming services to actively tag AI-generated tracks. The platform’s decision also comes with a significant financial implication: AI songs are entirely demonetized on the service.
