Arm's First In-House CPU Set to Power Meta's AI Data Centers This Year
UK-based chipmaker Arm is finally taking a step into manufacturing its own chips after decades of licensing designs, with its first homegrown CPU, dubbed the Arm AGI CPU, set to power Meta’s AI data centers later this year. The new chip is designed for inference and cloud processing in AI tools, such as AI agents that can dynamically spawn multiple tasks to run concurrently. As a major player in AI hardware, Meta is not only purchasing the chips but also collaborating with Arm on further development, planning to utilize the processors alongside hardware from other vendors like Nvidia and AMD.
