Artemis II Mission Successfully Completes Far-Side of Moon Flyby, Breaking Record for Distance from Earth
The Orion spacecraft carrying four astronauts on the Artemis II mission has reached its maximum distance from Earth, marking a historic milestone in NASA’s efforts to return humans to the lunar surface. The spacecraft traveled 252,756 miles away from Earth before entering into orbit around the far side of the Moon. This achievement breaks the previous record for the farthest distance humans have traveled from Earth.
