Artificial Intelligence Model Claude to Receive New Ethical Guidelines

Anthropic has unveiled a revised constitution for its AI model Claude, a significant overhaul of the original document published in May 2023. Dubbed “Claude’s Constitution,” the 57-page document provides a detailed framework outlining the model’s intended values and behavior. This new guide is primarily aimed at internal use, aiming to instill an “ethical character” within the AI and provide clarity on how Claude should navigate high-stakes situations where conflicting values are at play. The revised constitution seeks to move beyond simple guidelines, focusing instead on fostering a deeper understanding of why certain behaviors are expected in the first place.
