Autonomous Robot Smashes Half-Marathon Record with Lightning Speed
An autonomous scarlet robot named “Lightning” completed a 13-mile race in Beijing on Sunday in an astonishing 50 minutes and 26 seconds, shattering the previous record by nearly two hours. Developed by Honor’s Du Xiaodi team after a year of development, the robot boasts legs measuring around 90-95 cm (35-37 inches) to mimic elite human runners and advanced liquid cooling technology inspired from its smartphones. The “Lightning” robot not only bested all 12,000 human competitors but also outpaced the current world record holder by more than an hour.
