Baidu Robotaxis Experience Widespread Malfunction in Wuhan
Multiple reports flooded police stations in Wuhan, China, of Baidu’s Apollo Go robotaxis grinding to a halt on highways and streets, trapping passengers inside as they were unable to move. According to authorities, the robots stopped suddenly without warning, causing at least one accident and leaving many stranded for extended periods. The Chinese tech giant issued an apology, stating that an unspecified “system failure” was responsible for the widespread malfunction. No injuries have been reported, but police are investigating the cause of the issue. Baidu Apollo Go robotaxis were spotted stationary on major roads in Wuhan, with some vehicles remaining stuck for several hours before receiving assistance from responders or being removed by authorities.
