Blue Origin successfully reuses New Glenn rocket
The New Glenn rocket made history as it became the second stage booster to land safely after lift-off, marking a major milestone for Jeff Bezos’ reusable launch vehicle development. However, despite the successful landing, the mission was marred by an error in the satellite’s deployment. The cell-tower-in-space, built by AST SpaceMobile, was intended to be launched into a medium Earth orbit but ended up in a lower orbit due to a malfunction in the second stage of the launch vehicle. In a statement, AST SpaceMobile expressed disappointment with the outcome, citing that the satellite did indeed separate from the launch vehicle and power on, but ultimately became “functionally useless” as a result of its incorrect orbital placement.
