CISA Director to Leave Post Amid Mysterious Incident
The US Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), a key component of the Department of Homeland Security, has announced that its acting director will be leaving their position following less than a year in office. Madhu Gottumukkala, who had taken charge as deputy director and acting director in May 2025, will now be assuming the role of director of strategic implementation at DHS. Gottumukkala’s departure comes on the heels of controversy surrounding an incident where sensitive documents were inadvertently uploaded to the AI model ChatGPT. Despite concerns raised, Gottumukkala had initially requested special permission for their actions. However, the agency has opted to move forward with a new acting director in Nick Andersen, who currently serves as CISA’s executive assistant director for cybersecurity.
