Cloud Development Platform Vercel Hit by Hackers as Stolen Data Sold Online
Vercel, a leading cloud development platform, has confirmed that it suffered a security breach, resulting in sensitive data being compromised and stolen. A group claiming to be affiliated with the notorious hacking collective ShinyHunters took advantage of this vulnerability and posted employee names, email addresses, and activity timestamps online. Vercel acknowledged the incident in a statement on X, stating that it was a “security incident” affecting only a limited subset of its customers. According to the company, a third-party AI tool was exploited as the entry point for the attack, but the identity of this third party remains unclear. The hackers are now attempting to sell the stolen data, highlighting the ongoing threat of cyber attacks on cloud-based services.
