Colorado Governor Refuses to Grant Reprieve to Election Denier Tina Peters
Despite receiving an “empty pardon” from former President Donald Trump, Tina Peters, a former election clerk and prominent election denier, remains behind bars in Colorado. The pardon, which many saw as a gesture of support for conspiracy theorists, did not carry any actual weight or authority to commute her sentence. As a result, Governor Jared Polis has refused to grant Peters a clemency request, citing her ongoing involvement with election-related activities that contributed to the January 6th attack on the US Capitol. With no signs of relenting, Peters will likely remain incarcerated for several more months as the governor continues to hold firm against commuting her sentence.
