Daily Users Plunge as Roblox Implements Age Checks
Roblox’s daily active users declined for the first time in a year, falling to 132 million globally due to the rollout of age checks on its platform, according to the company’s latest earnings report. The drop from 152 million active users in Q3 2022 was attributed to slowing new user acquisition caused by the introduction of stricter age verification measures. This led to a decrease in daily active users in both the US and Canada. Despite this decline, Roblox reported $1.4 billion in revenue for the quarter, indicating that the company’s overall growth is still substantial. However, the Russia ban on December 2022 had a lesser impact than expected on Roblox’s earnings, allowing the company to maintain its momentum in the market. The platform’s declining user base remains a concern for the company, but Roblox has yet to reveal any long-term consequences of the age check rollout.
