Discord Age Verification Delayed Until Mid-2026
The initial rollout of Discord’s global age verification system has been pushed back, with the platform now expecting to launch in the second half of 2026 instead of as previously planned for next month. In a blog post, Discord CTO Stanislav Vishnevskiy acknowledged that the company had failed to clearly explain its intentions behind the age verification process, leading some users to believe that it was requiring face scans and ID uploads from everyone who uses the platform. Discord plans to introduce additional options for users to verify their age before rolling out age verification globally, which will aim to provide more clarity and transparency on the company’s policies. In a move to improve its communication strategy, Discord is working to enhance user education and engagement, ensuring that users are better informed about the importance of age verification on the platform.
