Ferrari's Electric Future Sparks Debate Over Stylistic Risks
Three Italian experts weigh in on the design of Ferrari’s first electric model, the Luce: Gianpiero Sodan, a renowned car designer, says “the aggressive lines and angular shapes may be seen as bold, but they also make the Luce feel cold and impersonal – like a concept car rather than a production vehicle.” Giorgio Giurato, an automotive journalist, notes that “while some might find the Luce’s design too radical, I think it’s actually quite effective in communicating Ferrari’s commitment to innovation and sustainability.” Francesco Greco, former CEO of Ferrari’s parent company Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA), cautions that “the design team may have taken too far the ’electric’ brief, losing sight of the brand’s heritage and DNA – the result is a car that looks more like a futuristic prototype than a luxurious Italian grand tourer.”
