FTC Declines to Enforce Kids' Privacy Law for Age Verification
The Federal Trade Commission has announced it will not enforce a children’s online privacy law against certain websites that collect and use minors’ personal data solely to verify their ages, citing the emergence of innovative age verification technologies as a protective measure. According to Christopher Mufarrige, director of the Bureau of Consumer Protection, these technologies are among the most child-protective to have emerged in decades, incentivizing companies to adopt them and empowering parents to safeguard their children’s online activities.
