Global Memory Shortage Drives Up Cost of High-Performance Computing Hardware
Framework’s decision to increase the price of its desktop PC is largely attributed to the ongoing shortage of LPDDR5x memory chips, which are used in its high-performance computing systems. This surge in demand has pushed up prices across the industry, with Framework stating that it had to “update our Framework Desktop pricing today” due to these increased costs. As a result, customers can now expect to pay upwards of $1,139 for a desktop PC featuring 32GB of RAM and an AMD Ryzen AI Max 385 chip, compared to the original price of $1,099.
