Google Employee Charged with $1.2 Million Polymarket Bet Scandal
Michele Spagnuolo, a Google employee, was charged by federal prosecutors for allegedly using inside information to win $1.2 million on Polymarket bets related to search trends in 2025. According to the unsealed complaint, Spagnuolo accessed confidential, commercially valuable internal data at his workplace, giving him an unfair advantage before the trading public could make their own informed decisions. The allegations against Spagnuolo include commodities fraud, wire fraud, and money laundering, for which he was released on a $2.25 million bond following his arrest in New York.
