Google has since announced plans to pay $68 million to settle the claims made against it by the plaintiffs.
The tech giant also stated that its conversational recording practices were indeed in place, but not prominently displayed to users. Google has reassured its customers that all recordings are stored for only 3 days and then automatically deleted, with user consent required for any data sharing or use beyond that period. As part of the settlement agreement, Google will revise its privacy policies to better inform users about its conversational recording practices and ensure that all necessary steps are taken to protect users’ sensitive information.
