Google Tightens Spam Rules with New Measures Against AI Manipulation
Google has updated its spam policy to include attempts to manipulate its AI model in search results, marking such tactics as a form of spam that can deceive users or influence the search system’s rankings. The company aims to prevent users from exploiting its AI capabilities for malicious purposes, such as biased “best-of” listicles or “recommendation poisoning,” which injects flawed information into large language models to sway their responses in Google Search. Google will now flag and penalize attempts to manipulate its AI search results, including those found in AI Overview or AI Mode in Search, with the goal of maintaining a fair and trustworthy search experience for all users.
