Hacker Demonstrates Flaws in Yarbo Robot Lawn Mowers
A security researcher had been experimenting with a robot lawn mower when he inadvertently hacked it remotely from another continent. The device, which was equipped with a trimmer attachment, began to malfunction and was found on top of the hacker’s body. Andreas Makris, who discovered the vulnerabilities in Yarbo’s robotic lawnmowers, initially intended to demonstrate the security flaws to the manufacturer. However, his actions inadvertently put him in harm’s way, as the mower became out of control and began moving towards him. Makris was unable to stop the mower from moving across his body due to its size and speed. Luckily, he managed to remotely shut down the device before it caused any further damage. The incident highlights the importance of robust security measures in robot devices to prevent similar accidents in the future.
