HomeKit Support Ends on February 10, 2026
Apple’s transition to its new HomeKit architecture will bring significant changes to the way users control their smart home devices starting February 10, 2026. With the end of support for the original HomeKit framework, older devices and hubs may no longer be compatible with the revamped system. The most notable impact will be felt by iPad users who rely on them as Apple Home Hubs. Under the new architecture, iPads are no longer eligible to serve this role, forcing users to switch to a HomePod or Apple TV to control their smart home devices remotely and create automations. Furthermore, iOS 16 is now a requirement for any device connected to the Home network, adding another layer of complexity to the transition. As a result, users will need to update their devices and apps before February 10, 2026, to ensure seamless functionality in the new Apple Home ecosystem.
