Hundreds of creatives warn against AI theft on grand scale
A new campaign, “Stealing Isn’t Innovation”, has been launched by over 800 artists, writers, actors, and musicians who are sounding the alarm about the alarming rate at which AI companies are copying creative content online without permission or proper credit. The signatories of this campaign include notable figures such as George Saunders, Jodi Picoult, Cate Blanchett, Scarlett Johansson, Billy Corgan, and The Roots, among others. According to the campaign, the proliferation of GenAI technology has led to a surge in profit-driven companies copying massive amounts of creative content without authorial consent, sparking concerns over intellectual property theft and the future of artistic innovation.
