Live Nation’s monopoly trial reportedly fracturing Trump’s Justice Department
In a surprise development, sources close to the matter have revealed that Live Nation executives are circumventing the Justice Department’s antitrust division by directly engaging with more sympathetic officials within the Trump administration in an effort to avoid a highly anticipated trial. Notably, this maneuver has apparently excluded Antitrust Chief Gail Slater from these negotiations, who had been working towards a trial starting in March and was determined to see the case through to its conclusion after inheriting it from the Biden administration. The ongoing lawsuit, which involves 30 state and district attorneys general, aims to dismantle the Live Nation-Ticketmaster merger by alleging that it has given the company an unfair commercial advantage due to its dominant position in the live entertainment industry.
