Meta Revises Pricing for Quest 3 and 3S VR Headsets Due to Global RAM Shortage
The global memory shortage has led Meta to increase the prices of its Quest 3 and 3S virtual reality headsets, as well as refurbished units. As of April 19th, customers can expect to pay $349.99 for the 128GB Quest 3S VR headset, $449.99 for the 256GB model, and $599.99 for the standard Quest 3. This represents a $50 increase for both Quest 3S models and a $100 hike for the Quest 3. Refurbished units will also face price hikes, with the 128GB and 256GB Quest 3S models increasing to $319.99 and $409.99, respectively, and a refurbished Quest 3 costing $549.99, a staggering $170 increase from its original price. It’s worth noting that accessories for the headsets will retain their current prices, unaffected by the global RAM shortage and resulting price hikes. The move is part of Meta’s efforts to adjust pricing in response to rising production costs, citing the increasing cost of building high-quality VR hardware.
