Microsoft Ditches Teams' Virtual Conference Space Feature
Teams Together Mode, launched during the pandemic to facilitate remote team meetings, is being phased out by Microsoft in favor of a simplified experience. The virtual conference space feature used AI to seamlessly integrate individual video feeds into a shared meeting environment, reducing visual distractions. Despite its novelty, the gimmicky interactions it enabled – such as tapping colleagues on the virtual shoulder or exchanging digital high fives – have now become less necessary with advancements in technology and growing familiarity with remote communication. As part of its efforts to refine the Teams experience, Microsoft will gradually roll out changes to users, aiming to provide a more streamlined collaboration platform.
