Microsoft Misleads Internet with Fake Office Rebrand
Microsoft’s attempts to promote its artificial intelligence-powered Office tool, Microsoft 365 Copilot, have led to widespread confusion among users, with many believing that the entire Microsoft Office suite has been rebranded as “Microsoft 365 Copilot”. The internet was flooded with reports of this supposed rebranding on social media platforms like Reddit, Hacker News, and X. However, a closer look reveals that Microsoft’s own website has not undergone such a drastic change. The confusion stemmed from Microsoft’s decision to redirect its Office.com domain to the Microsoft 365 Copilot app, which serves as a central hub for accessing Copilot and other Office applications. This move aimed to promote the new tool and drive users towards it. Despite this, the full suite of Microsoft Office apps remains unchanged in its branding. Microsoft’s efforts to introduce Microsoft 365 Copilot have led to understandable confusion among users, but it appears that there has been no rebranding of the entire Office suite to “Microsoft 365 Copilot”.
