Microsoft Raises Prices on Surface Devices Amid Global RAM Shortage
The 13-inch Surface Pro 11 and 13.8-inch Surface Laptop 7 have seen their prices increase due to a global shortage of RAM, now starting at $1,499 for the base models, up from their original launch price of $999. Microsoft initially stopped selling its lower-end versions of the Surface Pro 11 and Surface Laptop 7 in favor of more expensive models with additional storage. The decision seemed aimed at clearing room for newer devices that were launched last year. However, these newer models have not escaped the effects of the current RAM shortage. As a result, Microsoft has raised prices across its surface line to reflect increased material costs.
