Microsoft Teams Security Breach Exposes Cybercriminals' Mistake
A group of cybercriminal twins was caught after they failed to turn off the recording on Microsoft Teams during a conversation with one of their intended victims. The recording, which lasted for over an hour, captured the duo’s conversation about how they planned to extort money from their target. Authorities were alerted after the victim heard the recording and immediately contacted law enforcement. Instructure has finally put an end to the Canvas ransomware attack that began in March, with all affected institutions reporting being restored to normal operations. The attack had targeted over 300 organizations using Instructure’s Canvas learning management system. The dark web was shaken when one of its most notorious alleged kingpins, known as “Agent0x7”, got taken down by authorities after an undercover operation. Agent0x7 was accused of running a number of high-profile dark net marketplaces and was considered one of the most wanted figures in cybercrime circles. Workers at OpenAI suffered a devastating supply chain attack last week that left hundreds without pay or access to their work. The attackers managed to breach multiple layers of security before accessing the OpenAI system, where they stole sensitive data and disrupted operations. The DarkSide ransomware gang claimed responsibility for a recent attack on two major US corporations, resulting in millions of dollars in losses.
