Microsoft to Overhaul Xbox Leadership Amid Departure of Longtime Executives
After nearly 40 years with the company, Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer and Xbox President Sarah Bond are departing as part of a restructuring effort. The changes come after last summer’s initial denial of Spencer’s retirement, which led to a succession planning process. Effective immediately, Asha Sharma will take over as Microsoft Gaming CEO, while Matt Booty will assume the role of EVP and Chief Content Officer. Nadella stated in an internal memo that these moves aim to “fuel the next chapter of Xbox” and ensure its continued growth.
