New Windows 11 Feature Aims to Unify User Experience Across Platforms
Microsoft is exploring an optional top menu bar for Windows 11, drawing inspiration from Linux and macOS. Dubbed “Command Palette Dock,” this feature would offer users quick access to tools, monitor system resources, and more. Concept images have been shared, along with a call for user feedback on the potential feature’s effectiveness. The proposed dock design is highly configurable, allowing users to position it anywhere along the edge of the screen, including the top, left, right, or bottom. According to Niels Laute, senior product manager at Microsoft, “the dock is designed to be highly configurable,” enabling users to tailor their experience to suit their preferences. Feedback on this new feature is currently being solicited from Windows users, who will have a say in determining whether the Command Palette Dock becomes a standard part of the operating system.
