New YouTube Search Filters Bring Clarity to Video Selection
YouTube has introduced new search filters that allow users to specifically browse for Shorts or longform videos, eliminating the need to sift through a mix of both formats in a single results page. This change comes as part of several updates aimed at improving user experience and addressing complaints about outdated and ineffective filter options. Among the newly available filters, users can now select “Videos” to view only longform content, or “Shorts” to see only videos in the Shorts format. This enhanced search functionality is designed to make it easier for viewers to find what they’re looking for without having to navigate through a cluttered results page. The update also marks the removal of two filters that were found to be unreliable and had led to user complaints: “Upload Date - Last Hour” and “Sort by Rating.” The decision to discontinue these features comes after an assessment revealed they were not functioning as intended, ultimately affecting user satisfaction.
