Nvidia Unveils Native Linux and Fire TV Apps for GeForce Now Cloud Gaming Service
Nvidia is expanding its GeForce Now cloud gaming service with native apps for Linux and Amazon’s Fire TV devices, in addition to improved flight control support. A long-awaited feature, the native Linux app will allow subscribers to access GeForce Now without relying on unofficial workarounds or browser extensions. Initially, a beta version of the Linux app will be available on Ubuntu 24.04 and newer operating systems, nearly a year after Nvidia simplified the process for accessing the service. The new features are part of the RTX 5080 rollout, which brings enhanced performance to GeForce Now subscribers. Nvidia’s decision to develop native apps for Fire TV devices marks an important step in its efforts to make GeForce Now more accessible to users on a wider range of platforms. With these updates, Nvidia aims to further enhance the user experience and provide seamless access to its cloud gaming service across various operating systems.
