Racial Profiling Fuels Mass Deportations Under Trump's Immigration Policy
ICE has been quietly ramping up arrests in the New York metropolitan area, disproportionately targeting Latino neighborhoods with a staggering 93% of street arrests involving Latinos, despite them making up only 66% of the local undocumented population. According to an investigation by City, a local nonprofit news organization, between October 2025 and mid-March, there were 430 street arrests in the area, many of which involved agents grabbing innocent bystanders while looking for targeted individuals. The findings highlight the devastating consequences of racial profiling under Trump’s immigration policy, which has led to widespread fear and mistrust among Latino communities nationwide.
