Raspberry Pi Prices Soar Amid Global Memory Shortage
The cost of some parts has more than doubled over the last quarter, according to Eben Upton, CEO of Raspberry Pi, leading to increased prices across several single-board computers. Devices featuring older LPDDR2 memory will not be affected. The price hike affects all Raspberry Pi 4 and 5 models, as well as Compute Module 4 and 5 variants with 2GB or more of memory. Previous price increases for the Raspberry Pi devices occurred in December, where prices rose from $5 to $25, depending on RAM capacity, while a higher-end variant saw an increase of $20.
