Samsung Abandons Magnet Technology in Galaxy S26
A recent interview with Won-Joon Choi, Samsung’s R&D chief, revealed that the company has intentionally excluded magnets from its latest flagship model, the Galaxy S26. Choi explained that the primary reason for this decision is the added thickness and weight that would be required to incorporate magnets into the device. According to him, this compromise is deemed unnecessary given that the majority of users opt to use cases, which have become increasingly popular due to their versatility and functionality. In particular, Choi emphasized that approximately 80-90 percent of users rely on cases, and those with built-in magnets are particularly in demand. As a result, Samsung prioritizes aesthetics, user experience, and functionality over the inclusion of magnetic features. Despite Apple’s and Google’s adoption of magnet technology in their respective devices, Samsung remains committed to its approach, opting for case-based solutions instead. This strategic decision underscores Samsung’s focus on optimizing user convenience and satisfaction.
