Samsung Seals Deal with Semiconductor Workers
A tentative agreement has been reached between Samsung and its semiconductor employees who had threatened to strike, according to recent reports. The proposed deal eliminates bonus caps for chip workers, allowing eligible employees to receive average annual bonuses of up to $340,000. This new arrangement is part of a broader compensation package that provides 50% of annual salary in regular cash bonuses. The decision follows significant growth in demand for AI components, which has boosted the profits of South Korean chipmaker SK Hynix. The proposed strike would have lasted 18 days and was ultimately averted as workers negotiated the new terms of their employment contract.
