Siri Overhaul Delayed Again as Apple Pushes Back to Later iOS Versions
Apple’s efforts to revamp its virtual assistant, Siri, are facing yet another hurdle, with the company reportedly pushing back its plans for significant updates until later versions of iOS. The changes, which would have enabled Siri to better understand personal context and take action based on what’s on the screen, were initially set to launch with iOS 26.4 in March. However, testing uncovered fresh problems with the software, prompting Apple to delay the rollout. Now, it appears that the company plans to introduce these features in later versions of iOS, including iOS 26.5 and iOS 27. According to Bloomberg, Apple has instructed engineers to use iOS 26.5, scheduled for May, to test new Siri features. This suggests that the company is taking a more cautious approach to introducing significant changes to its virtual assistant, which has faced criticism in the past for being less effective than its competitors.
