SteamOS 3.8 Update Brings Long-Awaited Features and Expanded Handheld Support
Valve has released a significant update to its operating system, SteamOS 3.8.0 in preview, which adds long-awaited features for the company’s handheld devices, including the Steam Deck. The latest version also introduces support for various gaming PCs, including the upcoming Steam Machine living room gaming PC. The update brings several improvements and new features, including genuine hibernation and “memory power down” modes to the Steam Deck LCD model, which should help extend battery life. This feature is expected to be rolled out to other models in the future. In addition to the Steam Deck, the update also supports a range of other handheld devices from various manufacturers, including Microsoft, Asus’ Xbox Ally series, Lenovo Legion Go 2, OneXPlayer X1, and MSI, among others.
