TeraWave Satellite Internet Promises 6 Terabit Bandwidth for Enterprise Customers
Blue Origin has announced TeraWave, a satellite internet network that promises to offer bandwidth of up to 6 terabits available anywhere on Earth, with support for both upload and download. The network, which is currently in development, will feature a “multi-orbit” design comprising 5,408 satellites. Although the network is expected to begin deploying satellites near the end of 2027, customers are unlikely to be able to connect directly, according to Blue Origin CEO Dave Limp. Instead, TeraWave is designed as an enterprise solution for businesses, with a focus on providing high-speed internet connectivity in areas where traditional infrastructure is lacking. The announcement marks a significant entry into the satellite internet market by Blue Origin, which has been expanding its presence in space exploration and development through various initiatives, including its New Glenn rocket program.
