TeraWave Satellite Internet to Challenge SpaceX's Starlink Constellation
The satellite internet market is about to get more crowded as TeraWave, a company backed by Blue Origin, announces plans to launch its own constellation of satellites with bandwidth capabilities exceeding 6 terabits per second. This ambitious project promises to provide high-speed internet connectivity anywhere on Earth, albeit not directly. According to the company’s CEO Dave Limp, it’s purpose-built for enterprise customers and will utilize a multi-orbit design featuring 5,408 satellites in various orbit levels. TeraWave’s satellite network is poised to compete with SpaceX’s dominant Starlink constellation, which currently holds the majority of internet-beaming satellites. While TeraWave’s launch timeline isn’t as aggressive as Starlink’s, it will start deploying its satellites near the end of 2027.
