The Verge Redesigns Homepage with New Layout to Balance Top Stories and Firehose Content
We’ve introduced a new layout for our homepage that aims to strike a better balance between our top stories and the firehose of news that our readers love. On desktop, we’re separating our magazine-quality content from our latest articles in two distinct sections. The left side showcases our top stories of the day, followed by story sets centered around specific topics or events. This layout is designed to give important work more room to breathe and more time to be seen. The reverse chronological feed, which was previously pinned at the top of the page, now resides on the right side as an uninterrupted stream of everything we publish. We’ve also restored the toggle for the Following feed, which allows you to see updates from topics and authors that interest you most. For mobile users, these same ideas have been translated into feeds that can be toggled at the top of your screen. While this new layout is a step in the right direction, we know it’s not a perfect solution. We’re committed to continuing to iterate and evolve our homepage based on your feedback.
